Pintle-regulated Venturi Air/Fuel Induction for Fuel Economy and Performance

Business Plan Abstract

A business plan was prepared using strategic analysis methodology to advance the pintle-regulated Venturi (PRV) automotive air/fuel induction manifold from a prototype to full commercialization, with a stage-gate development model. The strategic analysis of internal and external forces indicated that PRV has a strong competitive advantage over conventional intake manifolds and substitute products, including direct gasoline injection with variable valve timing. The strategic analysis also indicated a propitious niche for four-cylinder engines and ethanol-fueled vehicles, where a competitive advantage exists in both pricing and differentiation. Strong management and marketing teams are necessary to coordinate commercial development and sales with existing distribution channels to promote PRV to automakers in emerging markets.
